SERC has been successful in securing a £6,053 grant funding from the Community Innovators Seed Fund to develop a Mental Health Recovery Room on the Bangor Campus site.

The recovery room will provide a private area for students with the tools needed to assist them in feeling well again and confident enough to re-join college.  Providing both a physical and virtual quiet area for students, resources will be available to help them to self-manage their symptoms including meditation facilities, light and music sensory therapy, a weighted blanket to help treat anxiety, self-help information access via a pc and a virtual private area where students will be able to access bespoke virtual reality meditation and other relaxation support.

The capacity will easily meet the anticipated student demand in Bangor – with an estimated capacity of 800 sessions for 1 student and 1600 based on 2 using the facility at any time.

It is hoped that the room will be opened in September 2020.  However, this may be delayed slightly due to the Covid -19 working restrictions.
