Recognition for micro and small businesses.
Tommy Martin, SERC’s Principal and Chief Executive and Heather McKee, Deputy Principal, Planning, Performance & Engagement, joined with micro and small businesses supported by the InnovateUs programme through the College, to celebrate their achievements, at a special event hosted by Department for the Economy’s (DfE) Deputy Secretary, Moira Doherty at Stormont.
InnovateUs is a skills development programme, fully funded by DfE and delivered across Northern Ireland by the six FE colleges. The programme has supported over 480 small businesses to complete over 500 projects during 2024/2025.
SERC’s Business Services team are the lead for the programme at the College and have worked with local companies over the years to help them bring their business innovations to fruition. Examples include developing online booking systems, selling online, developing recipes for the food industry, and CAD design for products such as barbeques and trailers.
