We are now enrolling candidates for the next intake of the Driving to Success course, starting in our Downpatrick Campus in mid-October 2021. Gain useful qualifications, avail of free driving lessons  and have the opportunity to obtain a car driving licence.

The course is open to any adult who is unemployed, not in education and who lives in the Downpatrick Neighbourhood Renewal Area, which is defined by postcodes. Students will attend classes at SERC two days a week for up to four and half hours, where they will gain practical and employability skills, vocational and personal development qualifications, to help boost employment prospects. In addition, driving lessons, theory and practical driving tests will be provided to those who have their provisional licence or applied for it at the start of the course.
The course starts week commencing 11 October 2021 and will continue until the end of February 2022.

To be eligible to enrol on Driving to Success, eligible adults must:

  • be resident of the Downpatrick Neighbourhood Renewal area (proof of address will be required);
  • be unemployed and flexible to attend classes at SERC; and
  • have a provisional licence or to apply for it at the start of the course.
