SERC has recently been shortlisted for the Education Awards 2019 which will take place on 21 February at the Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin. The annual gala awards ceremony recognises, encourages and celebrates excellence in the third level education sector on the island of Ireland from both state and privately funded institutions.

SERC has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Educational Technology/ICT Initiative of the Year’ category thanks to SERC’s initiatives such as the Moodle Activity Rater, Moodle categorisation, peer mentoring and blended learning.

The impact of these initiatives has seen MOODLE use increase from 4.9 (2016-17) to 6.2 million (2017-18) with 30% of access outside the College campuses reinforcing the value the students place on the resources and activities.

SERC Head of the Learning Academy Paula Philpott said “The college is delighted to be shortlisted for this award. At SERC we are commited to improving the learning experience in the digital age. By continuing to develop new innovative ideas with our highly skilled staff our students will ultimately benefit both inside and outside of the classroom."
