Student Finance

Remote learning is now underway across SERC’s curriculum and corporate departments.

The Student Finance Team are continuing to work hard in order to support you in the current situation.

We appreciate that your circumstances may have changed in the past number of weeks and we want to ensure that you have the best support available at this time.

The Student Finance team are fully available to talk with you.  Please contact studentfinance@serc.ac.uk and we will arrange a call back (either by telephone or a web chat).

The following initial information may be helpful to you now:

ALREADY RECEIVING FUNDING

We appreciate that you may have queries if you are already in receipt of funding from one (or more) of the following sources:

  • Further Education Grant
  • Care to Learn
  • SERC Hardship Funding
  • Student Finance NI/Student Loans Company

Your concerns may include when/how you will receive your next payment, will your childcare provider continue to receive payment etc.

Please be assured that we are in communication with the relevant funding bodies to have clear and accurate answers to these types of queries.

We will communicate the answers to you as soon as we receive them – those funding teams are also working hard to ensure you have support.

NOT CURRENTLY RECEIVING FUNDING

Please contact studentfinance@serc.ac.uk to discuss your options

We recognise that many of you have not received funding to date, but your circumstances may now have changed perhaps through loss or reduction in part-time employment.

Please talk to us about any concerns as the College may be able to assist you through the Hardship Fund.

We will be sending a separate email about the Hardship Fund – take time to read it!

Please contact the Student Finance Team to see if this fund could help you.

ATTENDANCE

Please remember to log in for each of your online classes!  Your attendance at these classes will be recorded and will still be used by the College as attendance confirmations for your funding.

If there are reasons why you may be unable to log in, please remember to contact your course tutor and keep them updated throughout any virtual ‘absence’.  This is very important for your funding.

PLANNING AHEAD

You still need to plan ahead for your course options in the 2020/21 academic year and how you will fund your studies.

The Student Finance Team can advise you on the funding options available for your next course and when these funds will open for applications.

Thinking about funding options now is important and means that you will be in the best position to apply when the fund opens!

Please do not hesitate to contact us at anytime (studentfinance@serc.ac.uk).  And remember to look out for the Hardship Fund email.
