Students from Level 2, Level 3, HNC and HND Travel and Tourism and Travel Management  from across Bangor, Downpatrick and Lisburn Campuses are doing the groundwork for Enterprise Fortnight with their first fact finding trip out, as part of their courses and a guest speaker who’s giving them insight into the importance of socials.

Colm Toner, Lecturer in Travel and Tourism said, “Students from Bangor, Downpatrick and Lisburn took part in a trip to Belfast.  They got to experience some of the City’s top attractions first-hand, thanks to the City Sightseeing bus”

He added, “As part of their induction PBL projects, the students stopped off at attractions including, Titanic Quarter, Stormont and the Peace Wall, taking photographs and recording videos as part of their Staycation campaign.  Then it was back on the tourist trail, with a visit to the Ulster Museum where they got an insight to the workings of the museum with a tour and a talk which will help them with their first assignment on visitor attractions.”

Fellow Lecturer, Lisa McKelvey said, “As well as the trip out, our tourism students from across three campuses had an online session with Michele Davis, entrepreneur and marketing consultant from StaycationsNI.

Lisa added, “Michelle is a great speaker and is very supportive of the tourism programmes – this was her second contribution, and her input will help to guide students through their PBL this semester. She has really inspired the students with her talk on the use of social media in the hospitality and tourism sectors locally.”

It sounds like the Tourism students are well on their way to making a big impression during Enterprise Week!
