Students, staff and guests gather for launch of Inkwell Journal

SERC students have launched the inaugural issue of The Inkwell Journal, as part of Aspects Literary Festival.

Amy Rafferty, A-Level Lecturer in Sociology and Religious Studies at SERC, and published poet said, “The new online literary and art journal, has been organised and will be primarily run by A-Level students, headed by Leah Roxanne McMordie, at the College’s Bangor Campus.   It will showcase the creative endeavours of both past and present SERC students but is open to everyone to submit.”

She added, “We are very excited to share the work of the creative talent on our doorstep.   This new venture will give students the opportunity to be involved in a literary and art journal and to gain valuable project-based learning (PBL) experience such as working to deadlines, proofing, editing and promotion as well as teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.”

At the launch, several of the contributors read their work.  A display of both art and writing is also on show at the Learning Resource Centre in Bangor Campus until the end of October.  The journal is available as a free download at theinkwelljournal (wordpress.com).  The editorial team will issue regular calls for submissions for consideration.
