SERC is preparing to host a Big Apprenticeship Job Fair at the SPACE Campus, Castle Park Road, Bangor on Thursday 21 June from 5:30pm-7:30pm. The event will offer visitors the chance to meet potential employers face-to-face and discover what apprenticeships are available.
The event, organised by SERC’s Training Organisation in conjunction with local employers, will offer school leavers and visitors the chance to find out more about local apprenticeship opportunities starting from September 2018. The event will promote the College’s range of apprenticeship options available to young people and is suitable for both A Level and GCSE school leavers.
The event is designed to showcase the opportunities available in the local area and to open visitors minds to the huge variety of apprenticeships on offer in their community. SERC’s Careers Advisors will also be on hand to offer expert advice for those undecided about which route to take and can help with things such as interview techniques and compiling CV’s.
Numerous employers including The Salty Dog, Grahams, Herron Bros, Befab Engineering, Magellan Aerospace, Little Stars Nursey, Mount Charles Group, Pier 36 and The Culloden Estate and Spa will be recruiting at the event.
Ken Webb, SERC Principal and Chief Executive said “The Big Apprenticeship Job Fair is a great opportunity to welcome young people, their parents and siblings to the College, enabling them to see for themselves what apprenticeships are available. It is designed to give school leavers and those looking to further their career prospects a valuable opportunity to experience at first hand the variety of exciting job options available to them and the high-quality skills training that is on offer to help them realise their ambitions right here on their doorstep.
“With the growing costs of university tuition fees, it is vital that ambitious young people wishing to obtain higher level qualifications are aware of the range of options available to help them make better, informed choices and I would encourage the community to come along to see what is on offer.”
SERC offer a range of Higher Level Apprenticeships for students completing their A levels such as computing, accounting, mechatronics, automotive management, leadership and management, leadership for children’s care, learning and development, manufacturing and gas management.
For students completing their GCSE’s, SERC have a range of new and traditional apprenticeships in the construction, customer services, pharmacy, financial services, IT, telecoms, hair and beauty, horticulture, vehicle repair, engineering, hospitality and services sector.
