Blue Monday

21 January 2019

January 21st is known as Blue Monday due to an amalgamation of factors which supposedly combine to make this the most depressing day of the year.

It’s cold, wet and dark outside, New Year’s resolutions have more than likely failed, and Christmas seems like a distant memory – apart from looming credit card bills!

Here are some tips for beating the January Blues:

  • After weeks of indulging in festive food and alcohol over Christmas go for a run, take up a sport or go for a brisk walk in the country to help get back into shape or to the gym.
  • Adopt a healthy balanced diet and eating treats in moderation will provide a more realistic and achievable lifestyle for 2019. It’s not too late to sign up to the Greatest Loser, 6 week weight loss challenge.  If you are interested please email mindyourself@serc.ac.uk

Lots of your friends and colleagues could be going through the same or similar feelings, but you may not realise it. Find someone to talk to – a friend or a trusted colleague. We are all in this life together and there are people out there who want to help you.
