SERC’s Refreshers’ Fair Reminds Students of Local Employers & Community Services

SERC's Students’ Union are hosting a ‘Refreshers’ Fair’ across all their campuses from Monday 28 to Thursday 31 January to remind students of the services and support available throughout the college and the local community for their health and well-being.

Catherine Shipman, Student Engagement Manager at SERC said, “At this time of year, we like to remind students of all the services within the College and in the local community that are on offer to them as part of their health and well-being.   It is not just about their physical health, but ensuring they know about student finance and local banking options, so they are financially fit, community groups and volunteering opportunities to help them stay connected to the community and all the support services on hand to help them cope with a range of issues as part of everyday life.  Students can also find out about nutrition and exercise on the healthy living stands. 

“We are delighted that so many organisations and employers from the local community are supporting the week including Inspire Wellbeing, McDonalds, Stepping Stones, the Consumer Council, Deafblind UK, Mencap, First Derivatives, Provincial Care Service Agency and Cancer Fund for Children as well as SERC’s own Careers and Student Finance teams.

“Many of our student enterprises will be hosting stands at the fairs so there is the opportunity for students to buy some unique gifts and treats and hear first hand from peers about some of the student company start-ups that are flourishing this year, including Renew it, Redo It upcycled furniture, Impressions of Ireland gifts and decorative products and In The Bag who offer limited edition fine art printed bags.”

SERC’s Refresher Fairs run throughout the week from 10am to 1pm at Lisburn Campus Monday 28 January; Newtownards Campus, Tuesday 29 January; Downpatrick Campus, Wednesday 30 January and Bangor Campus on Thursday 31 January.
