SERC's Enterprise team are delighted to announce the winners of the SERC Online Gallery launch.
Eve Dickson- Grandad: Eve was inspired by photographer Irving Penn. The image was taken in the studio at SERC and is of Eve's grandad. In the black and white portrait her grandad is wearing a striped suit.
Hollyann Donaldson- Mine: For this painting, Hollyann was inspired by the song “TAIL” by singer Sunmi, and the concept images for said song. Hollyann used small brushstrokes and blended them smoothly over the face but layered them in other places. Hollyann then used yellow and red for pops of colour against the black, white, and grey, and used a palette knife to create texture over areas deemed too flat.
Stella Templeton- Hawaii Sunset: Aged just 10 Stella drew a fantastic sunset piece set in Hawaii bringing the summer vibes to the Gallery. The Enterprise Department wanted to recognise Stella for her amazing talent at such a young age.
The SERC Online Gallery was launched 26th May 2021 as an opportunity for all staff and students to showcase their artwork. Earlier this year students entered the Royal Academy Young Artists competition led by art lecturer Keri-Ann Ross. The Enterprise department launched the Gallery on the back of this to give all staff and students who didn't meet the initial criteria to enter into the Royal Academy competition the opportunity to display their artwork within SERC . There is now over 140 pieces of art and photography showcased. To access the Gallery, click here and if you want to be included contact GettheEdge@serc.ac.uk to find out more.
The Enterprise department loved each and every artwork that was submitted and the vote was incredibly close. Thank you all for being a part of SERC's Online Gallery and please keep an eye out for competitions running in the future.
