Temporary Governing Body Chair Appointed

The Department for the Economy has appointed Mr Gareth Hetherington as Temporary Chair of the Governing Body of South Eastern Regional College.
Referring to the appointment, Ken Webb said: "Gareth has been a longstanding member of the College Governing Body and I am pleased he has been appointed to this role."
The appointment of Mr Hetherington is effective from 11 December 2018 and will run until a new permanent Chair is appointed.
The Governing Body of a Further Education College is responsible for securing the efficient and effective management of the college, determining its strategic direction, appointing its senior staff and ensuring that the College acts as a responsible employer.
Mr Hetherington is a qualified accountant and member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy. He has worked in economics and public policy for over 20 years and is Director of the Ulster University Economic Policy Centre, based in the Ulster University Business School. He brings to the Governing Body particular strengths in public accountability, analytical thinking and a detailed understanding of the role of further education in the economy. He does not hold any other public appointments.
