Students from the Level 3 Barbering course in Bangor and Lisburn certainly proved they were a ‘cut above’ for the Intercampus Barbering Competition.

Hosted in Lisburn Campus, seven students competed for first place and the honour of securing the title for their Campus. Students had one hour to cut and style a gentleman’s fashion look and it was non-stop from start to finish.

First place went to Jack Devlin (19, Lisburn) from Lisburn Campus who was absolutely delighted with the win. Demi McKinstry (20, Bangor) from Bangor Campus took second place and Jack Jamison (20, Crumlin) from Lisburn was third place.

The competition was judged by past students Lenny White, the award-winning Dementia Friendly Barber and Jack Greer, who came through the Level 2 and Level 3 Barbering courses at Lisburn Campus and now works at Cut ‘n’ Grind Salon in Lisburn. Both agreed it was a tight competition with few marks between all the competitors.   Lenny said, “The cuts and styling were great, and I was very impressed.”

Jack added, “It was evident that the students were taking on board all the learning from the course, and I encourage each of them to keep doing what they were doing.”

The students were presented with a plaque, certificate and Amazon vouchers.
