Little SERC celebrates British Science Week 2025

Twenty (20) pre-schoolers and their parents and guardians got down to some playful science experiments at our Little SERC Creche in Newcastle Campus earlier this week.

The playful introduction to science for pre-schoolers was funded by a British Science Week Kick Start Grant.   The session was open to pre-schoolers and their parents and guardians who were invited to come along and explore the world of science through hands-on experiments to help celebrate British Science Week, 7 – 16 March.

Little SERC's Creche Manager, Ursula Maginn said, “We were delighted to welcome 20 pre-schoolers and their parents and guardians to Little SERC. The little ones got to try their hands at different science experiments and learn more about science -  including the wonder of play dough volcanoes, sink or float, and colour change experiments – all in a relaxed session.

She added, “We had very positive feedback from the parents and guardians and the children certainly showed their enthusiasm for the event judging from their reactions to the hands-on experience on the day.

She concluded, “It was great to welcome everyone into SERC’s Newcastle Campus so they could find out more about what is on offer on their doorstep.”
