Two SERC lecturers are heading to China on a two-week staff exchange programme from 17 to 30 March, to help with Early Years Teaching in a vocational and technical college.
Sarah Darragh and Sarah McAvoy, both Early Years Lecturers across a range of Early Years programmes at SERC’s Newtownards Campus - from level 2 to foundation degree - will be based in Henan Province. The exchange is funded by the Chinese Government Higher Education Authority in collaboration with the China Europe International Education Consulting Group Ltd.
Speaking about the staff exchange, Sarah Darragh said, “My colleague Sarah McAvoy and myself will be upskilling early years students at Pingdingshan Vocational and Technical College for two weeks. Our programme will focus on Early Inclusive Education and Creativity and Curriculum.
She added, “We are looking forward to gaining first-hand experience of Early Years education in China and contributing to making positive links between Pingdingshan Vocational and Technical College and SERC.
“Neither of us have been to China before, so we are both really excited for the opportunity to share our skills, knowledge and experience in a subject we are both passionate about.
She concluded, “We are both looking forward to experiencing the Chinese culture and are open to all learning that we can take back to our students and the wider SERC community.”
