The IoD NI Director of the Year Awards celebrate Directors at the forefront of leadership excellence, spanning big corporates, small businesses, the public sector and charities. Directors who win these awards have been recognised as the best in their field by the organisation for business leaders, the IoD.

Heather has been shortlisted in the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion award category due to leading and enabling the innovative, ‘CARE’ project. This project supports economically inactive adults to return to education, to succeed and to progress to higher education or employment thereby improving social inclusion.

The ‘CARE’ project:

  • Collaborates with partner organisations to support adults.
  • Adjusts to suit communities.
  • Responds to student need.
  • Engages through student champions.

The project has an average achievement rate of 89%. The programme has supported adults with no qualifications on a journey to degrees in nursing, archaeology, early childhood studies, occupational therapy and more.

Each category winner will be announced at the award ceremony on Friday 9 December at the Merchant Hotel, Belfast.
