SERC’s Bangor campus students from Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy recently hosted a Health and Wellbeing event in aid of the college’s “Mind Yourself” campaign, offering free beauty treatments to staff members to practice self-care in the workplace.

Held in the Shadeka salon, students (pictured above) offered a range of services including gel nails, back massages, facials, waxing and spray tans as part of their project-based learning in conjunction with the campaign. Staff enjoyed the chance to unwind in a relaxing environment while supporting their mental health and wellbeing.

Maureen McKay, HR Business Partner commented, “We are delighted, as part of the ‘Mind Yourself’ programme, to be able to offer the opportunity for staff in the Bangor area to take time out to relax and look after their wellbeing by availing of a range of free beauty treatments. The wellbeing beauty day was a joint initiative with students from the School of Performing & Creative Arts as part of their Project Based Learning project.”

“We have received excellent feedback in relation to the event with staff commenting that they found the students were very welcoming and carried out the treatments professionally. We would like to thank the students for letting us avail of this opportunity and we look forward to running further events in the year within the other campuses.”

Well done to everyone involved.
