SERC Learning Academy Updates

Please see below for updates from SERCs Learning Academy:

1. Analysing Reports Training:  

Last week SERC Learning Academy ran workshops on each campus on Analysing Reports. The training was provided by Noel O’Hare and received great feedback. If you are a member of support staff and missed the workshop you can choose it at your staff development later this month.  

2. Corporate Staff Development Days

Corporate staff need to register for their Staff development (Think Digital: Work Happy) by Wednesday 5th December 2018

3. Social Media Workshops 

Social Media workshops are running this week and are being facilitated by the marketing department.  

The workshops will be held in the following campuses: 

  • Lisburn (1C-7) 2-3pm 5/12/18 You can register for the event by clicking here

4. Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

Have you thought about applying for Continuous Professional Development (CPD)?

This can be completed through SERC’s Learning Engine: (Guide to applying for CPD).

This application will go to your line manager in the first instance and if it is approved, it will then be transferred to the Learning Academy. Please include at least two quotes if appropriate and sufficient information to progress procurement.  

5. MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses)  

Have you considered learning with OpenLearn?  

Anyone can learn for free on OpenLearn. Signing-up will give you access to your personal learning profile and record of achievements that you earn while you study.  

Some benefits to learning with OpenLearn free courses include:  

  1. They are available immediately.
  2. They do not have a start and end date.  
  3. You can start right away or at a time that suits you.
  4. You can work through at your own pace.
  5. You can spend as long as you like on an OpenLearn course.
  6. If you sign up you can track your progress and work towards a statement of participation.
  7. There are around 1000 courses to choose from. The courses always focus on a specific area of learning.  
  8. Some focus on important and fascinating academic subjects, whilst others help you develop skills needed for study or work.
