Ami Morrow (18), from Dundonald, a Level 3 Barbering student at SERC's Bangor Campus, has been announced as a Finalist for a British Education Award 2024 at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate on Friday 9 February.
The shortlist – recognition for academic results and extra-curricular success within the vocational category - comes hot on the heels of the Junior Stylist of the Year Award, which the young woman collected at the Northern Ireland Hair and Beauty Awards in June. Ami is currently completing her Level 3 Barbering whilst working at Laveau Hair salon in Dundonald. She has also attained a Level 2 Hair and Media Make-up qualification and recently completed her Level 3 Hairdressing.
Ami said, “I am delighted to be a Finalist for this prestigious Award and consider the shortlisted an achievement. I am thrilled that my lecturer, Judith Magill, who has been a tremendous teacher and mentor, took the time to nominate me.
She added, “There has been great encouragement and support for me as student and carer, for my mum, Ellie. I have appreciated the flexibility which has enabled me to succeed.”
Ami will be attending the Awards ceremony with her proud parents, Ellie and Chris.
Judith Magill, Level 3 Hairdressing Course Coordinator at SERC said, “Ami has an impressive work ethic and drive which match her exceptional skills as a hairdresser, and one who is always keen to learn and develop her skills and experience. We are absolutely delighted that she is a Finalist in the Awards, which will showcase the best in the UK.”
Good luck to Ami from everyone at SERC.
