SERC Commended for Two Beacon Awards

SERC has been commended for two prestigious Beacon Awards 2023-24.
Now in their 29th year, the Association of Colleges (AoC) Beacon Awards, celebrate and showcase best practice and innovation and highlight excellence in UK further education colleges.
SERC’s Engineering team, led by Aine McGreeghan, has been commended for The City and Guilds Award for College Engagement with Employers, for the work the team have been doing to address shortfalls in workforce, skills and gender diversity in the industry
The Culinary Arts team, led by Paul Mercer, have been commended for the Real World Learning Award for their Hospitality and Catering School's Food Poverty Project, which radically innovated their PBL focus from pure business enterprise, to combining it with social enterprise work fifty per cent of the time in response to the extreme poverty in deprived communities.

Beacon finalists for each award category will be announced at the AoC Annual Conference on 14 November 2023.
