21 August 2019

With young people across the province waiting anxiously for GCSE results, SERC are preparing to host a series of careers days offering young people free, impartial and tailored careers advice on the run up to the day.

The sessions are designed to help young people and their parents understand of the range of learning opportunities and pathways available to them, helping them to make better, informed choices. The service is available to anyone in the South Eastern region, regardless of where they are planning to study next.

Call in to a Drop-in Session on Results Day

The careers team will be available on a drop-in basis following GCSE results days from 9am to 5pm on 22 and 9am to 3pm on 23 August.

Open Days for Further Education Programmes

Our Open Days give visitors the opportunity to talk to teaching staff, learn more about subject areas and course options and see the state-of-the-art facilities.

On 22 and 23 August students awaiting their GCSE results will be welcome to SERC Campuses for our Further Education Open Days when students can enrol on courses including Apprenticeships, Diplomas and Extended Diplomas.

Ken Webb, SERC Principal and Chief Executive said “Deciding on the next step after leaving school can be a daunting and anxious time for young people and their parents who may not know about all the courses or learning opportunities are available. Some people may have performed under their expectations, while others may be unsure about which route to take. The important thing is not to panic.  Our team of expert careers advisors can talk young people through their individual situations, enabling them to see for themselves what options are available to them not only at SERC but further afield.

“It is vital that young people are aware of the range of options available to help them make better, informed choices and I would encourage them to come along to hear their options. Our goal is to make it easier and more accessible for school leavers to source all the information they need to make decisions about their future.”

To make an appointment, please email careers@serc.ac.uk or call the College on 0345 600 7555 and ask for the careers team at the nearest campus.
