Oran Lands Career Opportunity in Industry-Leading Company

Oran, 23, came to SERC after completing his physics degree at Queen's University Belfast. He decided SERC was right for him after a family member encouraged him to consider the opportunity of an interesting career via the Data Analytics Graduate Programme.

On his course, Oran commented, “The course itself was interesting and helped with career development. Staff where great, always willing to help in any way possible with questions and queries. I took full advantage of the careers section of the course, which helped me prepare for interviews and helped boost my CV.  

“SERC put me in contact with an amazing company called Datactics, and after interviews and competition (I even had to choose between this company and another great option), I began placement at this company. The company itself provides industry leading data technology for a range of clients. I joined as an apprentice software developer, and after nine weeks’ placement have been offered a full-time contract as a junior software developer. I am in love with the job as it is extremely challenging but twice as rewarding. I don’t mind saying that I had a really hard time at university, and with my low grades a lot of companies would not have even considered me for a full-time job. With the help of the SERC placement programme and the staff that helped me with interviews, I got my foot in the door at an amazing company.
