Here at SERC we are keen to promote internal colleagues to allow staff the opportunity to get to know each other and put a face to the name, particularly due to the size and scope of SERC. With this in mind, “Meet your Colleagues” is a fun Q and A exercise to help raise awareness of people’s roles within SERC and allows you to get to know more about your fellow colleagues.
This week’s, “Meet your Colleagues” features Stephen McGreevy. Stephen is a Deputy Business Manager for Gas and Building Engineering Services within the Business Services Department here at SERC.
1. What does your role at SERC involve?
My primary role within SERC is to assist the Lead Business Consultant and Commercial Contracts Manager in developing, delivering and maintaining a portfolio of first-class courses which meet the developing and changing requirements of employers and industry.
2. Tell us a bit about your background?
I have had a long career (22 years) of working within the Building Engineering Services and Gas industry where I have gained a lot of technical and industrial experience prior to joining NDAI as a college lecturer, that’s the old North Down and Ards Institute.
Since the DFE college merger which seen the North Down – East Down and Lisburn Institutes merge I have been working within SERC, where I now have a combined career total of 15 years!
3. What 3 words best describe you?
Always On Time!
4. What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy music, football and boating on Lough Erne.
5. If you could swap jobs for a day who would it be and why?
If I could have any job for a day, it would be the Gold Reserve Curator at Fort Knox. With a company that provided Ford Transit, that would be a great job – one day should be enough!
6. List 3 items you would want with you if you were stranded on a deserted island?
1: Decent Broadband Package (Sky Sports)
2: Smart TV
3: Beach Bar (lol)
7. What is your favourite film and why?
If I had to pick just one, I would choose the first Matrix film as my favourite. It is a great film with a fantastic storyline.
8. Where do you most want to travel, but have never been?
I love travelling, especially seeing historical sites so for me it’d be the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu in Peru.
