SERC is a British Council approved test centre for The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) for Paper based tests and are the only provider of Computer-Based tests in Northern Ireland. IELTS measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication. It uses a nine-band scale to clearly identify levels of proficiency, from non-user (band score 1) through to expert (band score 9).

The last IELTS test to be held at the college took place on March 14, and the results were due to be released on 27 March 2020, by which time the college had changed to an online platform with college buildings shut.

Zia Nazar, IELTS Centre Manager at SERC was granted a special permission to access the college, and working alongside Claire Henderson Head of International Department and Alan Fletcher, from Estates, he was able to get the results released on time, and was also able to follow up enquires regarding re-marking and issuance of extra Test Report Forms.

If you’re interesting in taking an IELTS test, the SERC IELTS Centre is open for registration for the next test date, due to take place on May 30 2020. For registration, click here.
