We are always keen to hear about what our students and staff get up to, not only in SERC but in the wider community.   Each year, we are amazed to learn about volunteering and fundraising efforts which benefit people and communities at home and abroad.

Sharing your story is a great way for people to learn about a charity or cause central to the effort, and often connected to a loved one.   Such was the case for SERC’s Simon Cummings, Deputy Head of School for Construction, Engineering Services and Skills for Work, who completed the Belfast City Marathon on 1 May this year in memory of his father, Derek, who sadly passed away a year to the day, in 2021.

Simon’s effort has raised a tremendous £2,456 through his Just Giving page in aid of Marie Curie.  He said, “Marie Curie were a fantastic support to Dad and the family in his last few weeks and we will always be grateful for their support.”

You can still donate to Simon’s Just Giving page in aid of Marie Curie.
