Freshers 2021 Dates and Info

SERC Students’ Union are readying for freshers 2021. The SU will be hosting two different weeks of fairs, each week with a different focus. The first week will be about health and wellbeing and the second week will be centred around volunteering opportunities.

In addition to the on campus fairs the SU will also be hosting an online exhibition, the link for which will be made available on the 27 September and will be live for the two week fresher event.

Anna Leahy, SERC SU Student Engagement Officer, says “The SU are excited to see the return of on campus fairs, it’s been a long 18 months since our last on campus event and we look forward to welcoming new students and seeing some familiar faces again. This year we are taking the opportunity to expand our Freshers event to two weeks, allowing more focused fairs which we hope will be to the benefit of the students.”

The health and wellbeing fairs will be hosted on the week beginning 27 September, the dates and locations are as follows;

• Monday 27 September- Bangor
• Wednesday 29 September- Lisburn
• Thursday 30 September- Downpatrick

Some of the exhibitors confirmed for the health and wellbeing fairs are Aware, Common Youth, Inspire, Positive Life, Rainbow Project, Cancer Focus, South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, Cara Friend and Women’s Aid. There will also be breakout sessions with Inspire and Aware, and classes can book in for these sessions.

SERC Careers team will also be hosting drop-in session at the fairs on the above listed dates and campuses, as well as the Newcastle campus on Friday 1 October. The drop-in sessions allow students to:

• Meet the Careers Staff for their own campus.
• Find out more about SERC Careers Service and how they can help.
• Hear more about forthcoming careers events.
• Find out how to keep up to date with the latest careers news and opportunities.
• Ask any career related questions you might have.

The volunteering week of the fairs will take place the week beginning 4 October, the dates and locations for those are as follows;

• Monday 4 October- Lisburn
• Tuesday 5 October- Downpatrick
• Wednesday 6 October- Bangor

Confirmed exhibitors include NUS USI, local foodbanks, SERC Eco, SERC Enterprise, Dominos and SERC’s Students’ Union.
