01 February 2024
We are seeking three new members of the SERC Governing Body, effective from 1 May 2024. Appointments run for four years.
The Governing Body (GB) is the employer of all SERC staff, and members play a key role in supporting the college to meet the requirements of both learners and employees.
Remuneration – £250 per GB meeting; £150 per committee meeting/another event. Eligible travel/subsistence costs are paid.
Time Commitment – Around one day per month. This includes attendance per year at around 6-9 (evening) full governing body meetings and, dependent on committee membership, four or more meetings per committee. Members will also represent the college at meetings/public events.
Eligibility - No academic qualifications are required for the posts. Applications are welcome from people of any background across the community, voluntary, business or public sector, who can bring a wide range of skills and experience to the role. Knowledge of the further education sector is not essential.
The appointments system is run through the Department for the Economy (DfE). For more information on the positions, including responsibilities and selection criteria, please download or request an application pack: -www.economy-ni.gov.uk/department-economy-public-appointments
Alternatively, you can contact DfE Public Appointments Unit by telephone on 02890529461 (Textrelay: 18001 02890529461) or email pau@economy-ni.gov.uk
The closing date for applications is 12 noon (GMT) on 22 February 2024. Late applications will not be accepted.
DfE would particularly welcome applications from women, people with a disability, those from minority ethnic communities and young people, as well as those with a community, voluntary or rural background as they are all currently under-represented. A Guaranteed Interview Scheme, for applicants with a disability, will operate for this competition.
