This lockdown SERC is encouraging people to share with us their works of art and crafts, to inspire people to pick up a paintbrush, sewing needle or anything else that gets your creativity flowing.
Lockdown gives us the opportunity to explore new hobbies and ways to keep ourselves entertained, as well as to show off and improve our skills. That is why this lockdown SERC is encouraging people to share with us their works of art and crafts, to inspire people to pick up a paintbrush, sewing needle or anything else that gets your creativity flowing. Whether you are a beginner or a master at your chosen art form, making something can lead to better mental wellbeing, as well as being a fun hobby, so let’s get creative!
Today we look at Rebekah Cunningham's newest project, matching dungarees for herself and her son Henry.
Rebekah comments, "The dungarees are the 'Made by Jacks Mum' Heyday pattern, made in a soft chunky corduroy fabric. This is one of the things I love about sewing. Being able to make cute matching clothes like this. If you are sewing with corduroy make sure you cut it with the pile sitting the right way. Brush it with your hand and you'll see how it looks different each direction. I cut both mine and Henry's out at the same time. I cut a size small for myself and aged 2 for Henry. He is only 18 months, but I thought it's better sizing up than down, sure he will grow into them!"
