The SERC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business students at SERC Bangor Campus

Cornmarket Insurance representatives recently gave a workshop to Level 3 Extended Diploma Business students at SERC Bangor Campus.

Cornmarket Insurance Services have specialised in car insurance, home insurance, travel insurance, GAP insurance for cars and motorbikes and motorbike insurance, over the past 30 years. Based on Boucher Road, Belfast, They are part of the Irish Life Group and Great-West Life Assurance Company, who are one of the world’s leading assurance organisations.

Cornmarket Insurance representatives Diarmuid Lavery and Callum Skeffington hosted the workshop and set the Business students two tasks. The first was to look at different types of insurance products and compare and contrast the features, coverage, and limits of the different products, and then present their findings. The second task involved the students studying a risk management scenario where they had to identify and analyse potential risks and propose a risk management strategy.

Student Darren Calvert, (21), from Bangor, said afterwards “The workshop was eye-opening for us as it has shown us the physical docket in which insurance quotes are kept, which is something many of us in the class had never seen before. When we were working in groups, the Cornmarket representatives were helpful – they came over explaining anything that we didn't understand, and even talked to us about the insurance that we need, like car insurance, and why it’s so high for young drivers.”

Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business student Pippa Dunlop, (19), also from Bangor, said, “Cornmarket delivered an incredibly informative and engaging workshop that acted as a brilliant guide for students feeling considering their future options. The visitors educated us on rewarding career opportunities and helped us learn new skills we can apply in the workplace, no matter what path we take!”
