Three Construction Lecturers attend Training with Leica

Delegates from across the regional colleges recently attended a workshop at SERC's Lisburn Campus on Advanced Surveying Techniques and Equipment.

The workshop was facilitated by the FE Sector Construction Hub and delivered by leading supplier of surveying equipment Leica Geosystems.  Delegates enjoyed learning about a range of industry standard equipment from Leica Geosystems’ John Kerrigan. These included the Leica BLK360 imaging laser scanner, which captures full-colour panoramic images overlaid on a high accuracy point cloud,  and the Leica FlexLine TS03, a manual total station for standard measurement tasks.

Simon Cummings, Deputy Head of School of Construction, Engineering Services and Skills for Work said, “This workshop was a great collaboration between the FE Colleges and Leica Geosystems. It is part of an series of Continuing Professional Development activities being facilitated by the Construction Hub which will have a direct benefit for students. Learners  on programmes such as the Level 3 Advanced Tech in Construction and the Built Environment and the HNC in Construction and the Built Environment will learn about the latest surveying techniques and specialist industry standard equipment, giving them the edge for further study or employment.”
