Final year business degree students got digital marketing industry insight when local woman Sam King, entrepreneur and owner of Sam King Brow Artistry and SK Pro Academy, visited South Eastern Regional College (SERC).
The businesswoman, who delivers brow artistry and professional training services across Northern Ireland, has more than 20 years’ experience in the fashion and beauty industry, backed up with a degree in International Business. Sam, who opened her business in 2019 and enjoys a social following of almost 8k, was delighted to accept the invitation to the College to give her professional insight on the importance of digital marketing for a small business.
She said, “I was so impressed with the maturity and dedication shown by these students, their passion for their subject really shone through and they are great ambassadors for SERC.” She added, “I wish I had known about this degree when I was doing mine - the modules are really interesting, and it is right on your doorstep!”
Students Zara Shaw and Jake Baxter interviewed Sam on the importance of social media marketing and brand awareness for small businesses – part of their research for their dissertation on the Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) BSc in Business Management which the two are completing at SERC.
Janice Simpson, Business Management Lecturer at SERC, said, “The opportunity for our students to engage with local businesses and entrepreneurs like Sam helps them gain valuable insights into running a business, and develops their transversal skills such as working with others and professionalism, skills desired by employers when making recruitment decisions.”
