South Eastern Regional College (SERC) Level 3 Beauty Therapy students went head-to-head to prove their skills in an intercampus competition held at SERC’s Lisburn Campus.

The competition involved the students performing a back massage and galvanic facial on their assigned clients. Nine students from across the College’s Bangor, Lisburn and Downpatrick campuses took part, with the judging being done by Jeanette Kidd, owner of Jeanette Kidd Beauty and Day Spa in Lisburn, and Margaret McKenzie, a leading representative for Guinot Skincare in Belfast.

SERC Lisburn campus student Anu Rani, (20), Dunmurry, won first place in the competition, and the grand prize of a £100 gift voucher; SERC Bangor campus student Amy McKee, (23), Bangor, won second place, and a £75 gift voucher, and SERC Lisburn campus student Holly Mallon, (17), Lisburn, won third place, and a £50 gift voucher.

Kathy Webb, SERC Lecturer in Beauty Therapy, comments: “All the students showcased their skills and knowledge to such a high standard in this competition, it was impressive. Having industry expert judges who were "blown away" speaks volumes about the quality of the work the students presented. Such competitions are invaluable for students as they provide an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities, gain feedback from industry professionals, and potentially win prizes that can further support their learning, development and confidence. Overall, it was a successful and memorable event for everyone involved.”
