Expo Lisburn

The second week of the College’s annual Enterprise Showcase followed with second and third year students hot on the heels of the first years with their project-based learning (PBL) presentations on a vast array of innovative, creative, enterprising and entrepreneurial ideas up for judging by both academic and corporate staff.

Lizzie Buick, Deputy Head of Enterprise said, “As with the first years in week one, the judges were impressed with both the projects and presentations by the students. The greatest challenge for judges will be whittling down and volume of fantastic projects – from plumbing and performing arts and everything in between - to five categories which will be extremely difficult.  No student should be disappointed if their project is not selected at this stage as the Enterprise and Entrepreneur Club are always keen to hear how projects, business ideas and innovations progress.”

Judges were particularly impressed with hand sanitiser dispenser improvement devices; a  social enterprise  from Public Services students growing their own fresh produce as well as collecting same from growers for distribution by a local food bank; recycling of Coffee grounds made into bricks for  burning on the fire by engineering students in Lisburn;  Plastic Fantastic’s repurposing waste plastic in  Bangor and a number of plastic bottle recycling machines and incentives; IT students App creation and design for safe navigation around SERC campuses and another for click and collect food orders form campus eateries.

The scores from the judging will be uploaded to the Enterprise Project Portal and will be used to determine who will be invited to attend our Enterprise Showcase Final on Wednesday 7 October.

Good luck everyone!
