Bethany Honoured with OBE

Congratulations to SERC past student Bethany Firth who has been awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the New Year Honours.

Bethany (25), a native of Seaforde in County Down, has won nine medals across three Paralympic Games including six gold.  

The young woman successfully completed the Elite Athlete Programme - Pearson BTEC Level 3 90-Credit Diploma in Sport, whilst studying at SERC and continues to provide inspiration for both students and staff. She also represents Ards Swimming Club which has become one of the most successful swimming clubs in the country.

Lynda Robinson, Assistant Head of School, Applied Science and Sport at SERC said, “We are thrilled for Bethany on this much-deserved honour. Bethany was a dedicated student at SERC, and we were delighted to support her during her studies.   We look forward to watching her continued success and send our hearty congratulations on the OBE and wish Bethany all the very best for the future.”
