The Level 2 Traineeship in Sport aims to develop your understanding, knowledge and practical skills in relation to the sports industry.

The one year Traineeship programme provides you with the opportunity to develop and enhance your knowledge within the sports industry whilst building on important skills through a blended programme of vocational subjects, transversal skills, essential skills and work placement.
You will study exciting practical and theoretical modules within a broad range of sport and fitness related fields and undertake a combination of simulated and real work placement, all while developing core skills and qualifications necessary to progress to further programmes of study or employment.
The programme is targeted at students who have completed their GCSE study and want to enhance their GCSE profile. Students will need to have an interest or passion for sport, fitness and its related fields and want to develop their personal skills set and confidence. Numeracy and Literacy qualifications (for those that require them) are an integral part of the course.
The one year Traineeship programme will allow you to achieve a full Level 2 qualification and will comprise the following key elements:
- A main vocational based qualification in Sport
- Transversal and digital skills
- Work placement
- Literacy and Numeracy qualifications at Level 2
- Additional qualifications deemed necessary for work within a sector e.g. First Aid
You will need:
- 4 GCSEs grade D-G, including grade 'E’ in Maths and grade 'D’ in English or equivalent
Applicants that have not obtained the above grades may be eligible to enrol as an Introductory Trainee. Please contact us for further information.

- Anatomy and Physiology for Sport
- Fitness Testing and Training
- Nutrition for Sports Performance
- Development of Personal Fitness
- Effects of Exercise on the Human Body
- Injury in Sport
- Planning and Leading Sports Activities
- Simulated and Real Work Placement
- Essential Skills Numeracy (if required)
- Essential Skills Literacy (if required)
- Transversal Skills
