WorldSkills applications now open 2 march- 2 april

Applications for next year’s WorldSkills are now open, and if you are interested in competing, please register yourself after talking it through with your tutor, before applications close on 2 April.    

Successfully getting passed the heat stages will allow you the chance to go and compete in the national WorldSkills Live competition at the NEC Birmingham, which takes place from 12-21 November 2020. To find out more about WorldSkills watch the video below.

Celebrating the best of UK talent, national and even global recognition could await entrants as WorldSkills UK looks to invite those apprentices and students who excel in the competitions to join its talent development programme for the international WorldSkills Competition in 2023.  Known as the ‘skills Olympics’ WorldSkills takes place every two years and sees over 1000 apprentices and students from around the world compete in over 50 different skills, with the aim of being named the world’s best.   

WorldSkills is an accelerator for young people in the start-up phase of their careers. The competition aims to inspire more young people to take up apprenticeships and technical education, they champion their success and aim to accelerate their personal and professional development. Participation in the competitions is proven to enhance an individual’s career prospects with 90% of entrants saying that they had seen improvements in their career prospects after taking part. 

There are a range of skills being tested within the four main categories of; 

  • Engineering and Technology,  
  • Digital, Business and Creative,  
  • Health Hospitality and Lifestyle 
  • Construction and Infrastructure
