Menopause Day is held every year on the 18 October 2021 and this is led by the International Menopause Society and the theme this year is Bone Health. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness on the menopause and support options for improving health and wellbeing.

The menopause is a natural part of ageing that usually occurs between 45 and 55 years of age, as a woman’s oestrogen levels decline, when experienced before 40 years of age it is known as premature menopause. Menopausal symptoms can begin months or even years before your periods stop and last around 4 years after your last period, although some may experience them for much longer.

Your GP can offer treatments and suggest lifestyle changes if you have severe menopausal symptoms that interfere with your day-to-day life.

A SERC menopause SOP has been devised to assist individuals and to advise Managers on their responsibility for staff experiencing menopause symptoms. To access the SOP click here

Menopause information session – Wednesday 17th November 2021 at 9.30 am to 11.30 am

A general information session about the Menopause will be held on Wednesday 17th November 2021 at 9.30 am to 11.00 am via ms teams.

The session will cover:

  • Menopause and the stage
  • Symptoms and managing of menopause
  • Menopause in the workplace
  • Signposting to appropriate services

This session is not only relevant to individuals but also to managers to help raise awareness of the menopause to support staff.
