As we enter a new academic year your instincts are to get the year started and get ready for the year ahead.  We all need to take time to think about own health and wellbeing and this is the ideal time as you plan, prepare and think of the academic year ahead.

How Are You Quiz

Why not take the “How Are You Quiz” devised by the NHS to help you better understand how you are doing and how making better choices today can have a big impact on your health. 

One You

One You will help you get healthier and feel better with free tips, tools and support which could include moving more, eating more healthily and how making small practical changes that fit in with your life. The advice offered gives you easy ways to get started for your body and for your mind.

Mind Yourself

The Mind Yourself programme will be holding events and these will be published for staff through the monthly newsletter. Services currently available for staff are Mental Health First Aiders on campuses, UK Healthcare and Inspire Wellbeing.

1. UK Healthcare 

SERC College funded healthcare cash plan scheme provider is UK Healthcare. The UK Healthcare Scheme is fully funded by the College at Level 1 for existing and future employees of the College. UK Healthcare provides personal cover for staff to claim back cash for a range of everyday healthcare expenses such as optical and dental treatment, diagnostic consultation, complementary therapies, physiotherapy and chiropody.

2. Inspire Wellbeing

SERC Employee Assistance Programme will be supported by Inspire Work places. SERC employees have access to a 24 hour telephone support line, number 0808 800 0002.  The helpline provides access to professional counsellors able to support any problem and if you need support beyond the phone call, with further discussion on your concern.  Inspire Wellbeing can provide more indepth support with a designated counsellor, for financial or legal advice.

3. Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aiders are available on Campuses for staff and students. If someone is experiencing a mental health issue or emotional distress.  They can give you initial support and signpost you the appropriate help if required.
