SERC recently received a grant from SA Food for Life in association with the National Lottery Fund who are partnered with The Big Lunch.
The Big Lunch is the UK’s thanksgiving weekend for neighbours and communities - a time where people come together to celebrate community connections and get to know one another a little better. Now more than ever, we need to make time for each other, so let’s get the nation talking over a cuppa and a bite to eat and have some fun with The Big Virtual Lunch.
On the 6th and 7th of June The Big Lunch will be going ahead virtually and we have put together a few ideas you might like to try! We would love the SERC staff and students to get involved, below are a few ideas of what you can do. Please remember to take some photos and share them with us.
We have attached information on how to join in, invitations to personalise and send to your community, how join in over the phone, as well as backgrounds for virtual zoom lunches! -
- Leave a gift on someone’s doorstep, it could be a small food parcel, spare seedlings or something edible you’ve grown
- Have a picnic, BBQ or sandwich in your own garden at the same time as your neighbours have one in theirs
- Have a group call/zoom and invite everyone to bring their favourite snack to nibble whilst you natter (https://www.edenprojectcommunities.com/zoom-backgrounds-for-your-big-lunch)
