SERC’s part-time courses are here to help you transform your future by upskilling your strengths, improving your CV and learning in a flexible format that fits around your life.

Ken Webb, Principal and Chief Executive of SERC said, “Every year, we hear amazing real-life stories from our students on how their return to education has transformed their lives. The first step is realising that you can do whatever you put your mind to, and we will give you all the support you need here at SERC.”

SERC offers a variety of courses for you to study; you can restart your education with maths, English and ICT; or pursue a further education course to get the skills and knowledge necessary to get back into employment, retrain or climb the job ladder. Gain recognition for your existing skills or acquire new skills and knowledge from Sports Massage Therapy to an Award in Tour Guiding, from PAT Testing to Garden Design, from Gas Safety  Management to French, Spanish or Italian,  through to a range of  higher education courses; if you want, you can upskill on one of our many courses for business and industry with a professionally recognised course.

The College also offers an Access Foundation Diploma, designed to allow adults out of full-time education (2 years or more) the opportunity to return to study and progress to higher education. At SERC you are also able to study just for fun on a range of leisure hobby courses, including digital photographylanguages and woodwork. There is something for everyone at SERC.

Applications for all part-time courses, including Higher Education, are now open though operating a little differently this year.  Once you apply for your chosen course you will receive an acknowledgement email and as we are unable to take payment at this time you will be asked, depending on your course fee, to either submit a direct debit form or to confirm your commitment to pay via a liability form. Applicants will receive an email with the options detailed. Once we have received your preferred form we will be able to confirm if you have secured a place on the course. (Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis). Part-time autumn term courses will start in September;  applicants will be contacted to let you know the start date of your course.

SERC Careers Team are also available via phone, skype or email to talk about programmes and the support mechanisms that SERC offer to help overcome any barriers to education that people may face.
