Nominations are now open for the Students’ Union (SU) Officer elections. You can nominate yourself today by clicking here

SU Officers are democratically elected representatives of the student body at SERC. Being an SU Officer is a great way to have your voice heard and to help make SERC a better place for everyone. Last year SERC SU Officers helped set up new clubs and societies, ran events, represented student needs on various committees and made sure SERC student’s voices were heard at a national level.

There are many advantages to being a SU Officer:

  • You will get to meet and work with new people.
  • You will be working with students from across SERC to help achieve each other’s goals.
  • You will develop new skills including leadership, communication and problem solving.
  • You will be supported at all times by the SU staff team.    I
  • If you are successfully elected, you will receive training and support throughout your entire time as an SU Officer.

On their time as an SU Officer, one student commented, "Running an SU Club has been amazing, it allowed me to develop skills with leading and managing a group and has given me a way to express myself and practice my passions. It’s also helped build my confidence being the leader of a group as well as interacting with people in general".

Being an SU Officer is a great experience to add to your CV or UCAS form. It shows your future employer or college that you have the skills to be a leader and that you are passionate about supporting others. These skills can help you stand out from the crowd. Some former SU Officers have successfully got onto university courses thanks to their work within the Students’ Union.

If this sounds like the thing for you, you can nominate yourself for up to three roles. More information on the roles can also be found in the election pack, which can be found on the SU Microsoft Teams page.
