Enda Murray

It's a bit of a trek from Belcoo in County Fermanagh to Downpatrick, but worth the trip for Enda Murray who is upskilling with SERC.

Enda, (36), is completing the Light Vehicle Master Technician course at SERC’s Downpatrick Campus under the tutelage of Alan Kerr and Paul Churchman.   Enda said, “I initially came to SERC to complete a qualification which would allow me to work on electric vehicles, and last year I completed the Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement and IMI Level 4 Award in the Diagnosis, Testing and Repair of Electric/Hybrid Vehicles and Components.   I was so impressed with how the courses were delivered at SERC, I was keen to return and continue upskilling.   I wasn’t just getting a qualification but was getting skilled for the real work environment and the scenarios that I would encounter in my workplace.”

Enda continued, “This year, I am completing the IMI Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Automotive Studies; IMI Level 4 Skills in Diagnosing Motor Vehicle Faults where no prescribed process or format is available; and the Light Vehicle - Master Technician, the latter two courses are running in tandem.   The programmes are all part-time and completed at SERC’s Downpatrick Campus on a Thursday two days each month.”

“The courses have helped me get a promotion at work as I am better qualified, more confident and my skills have come on leaps and bounds.   I couldn’t recommend SERC enough to anyone who is working in the motor vehicle industry, who wants to be prepared to deal with the generation of vehicles that are coming our way.”
