SERC is preparing to host a Higher Education Information Evening at their Bangor and Lisburn Campuses on Wednesday 17 October from 6pm-8:30pm.
The event, organised by SERC in conjunction with local employers, will offer visitors the chance to find out more about local higher education opportunities. The event will promote the College’s range of options available to young people and is suitable for school leavers and those already working in the industry.
The event will offer prospective students and visitors the chance to speak to lecturing staff about the wide range of higher education courses on offer as well as the opportunity to speak to potential employers to find out about working within the industry.
It is designed to showcase the opportunities available in the local area and to open visitors minds to the huge variety of higher education options on offer in their community. SERC’s Careers Advisors will also be on hand to offer expert advice for those undecided about which route to take and can help with things such as interview techniques and compiling CV’s. The Colleges Finance Officers will also be available to discuss the range of funding options available.
Ken Webb, SERC Principal and Chief Executive said “The Higher Education Information Evening is a great opportunity to welcome current and prospective students to the College, enabling them to see for themselves what higher education options are available. It is designed to give school leavers and those looking to further their career prospects a valuable opportunity to experience at first hand the high-quality skills training that is on offer to help them realise their ambitions right here on their doorstep.
“The evening is for anyone who is looking to pursue higher education. Whether you’re a student or you’re in employment and wanting to earn additional qualifications to boost your skills and earning potential.
“With the growing costs of university tuition fees, it is vital that ambitious young people wishing to obtain higher level qualifications are aware of the range of options available to help them make better, informed choices and I would encourage the community to come along to see what is on offer.”
SERC offer a range of Higher-Level Apprenticeships such as computing, accounting, mechatronics, automotive management, leadership and management, leadership for children’s care, learning and development, manufacturing and gas management.
They also offer a wide range of HNCs, HNDs, foundation degrees and degree programmes in areas such as accounting, science, computing, engineering, construction and the built environment, business studies, sport, automotive management, travel and tourism, health and social care, counselling and early years.
