Niamh Noade

There were 4,000 applicants for the Ireland Junior Eurovision Contest this year with 200 being chosen to audition in person at the RTE studios in Dublin. Niamh made it through the audition stage and was one of the 24 chosen to compete in the televised live heats, which commenced on Sunday 18 September. Since then, Niamh has been confirmed as a finalist, with the final being held on 23 October - all on TG4 at 8.30pm.

Over the past year, Niamh has performed at several charity events and has raised over £5,000 for children's cancer charities.  She is the only contestant in the competition that is playing an instrument and the first ever to perform with a harp.

See Niamh's performance below:

This year, the winner will be decided through a free public vote. There will be one week where the finalists will be able to seek votes from the public. The voting is open now and can be accessed here.

Niamh commented "I have really enjoyed taking part in the Ireland Junior Eurovision!  Some of it was hard, especially learning the songs in Irish as well as learning the harp cords, but I've loved every minute of it.  I am now playing more contemporary types of music and I think that is because I gained the confidence to do so by taking part in the contest.  I would like to thank everyone for supporting me along the way and I could not have done it without their support and encouragement!"
