Kyle Gawley, a successful entrepreneur, software developer and author from Belfast, was interviewed live as part of SERC’s Virtual Entrepreneur Club interview and Q&A sessions.
Kyle provided advice to over 50 SERC students including tips on how to create an app, the importance of marketing your product effectively, and talked about some of the challenges he had to overcome along the way. Kyle stressed to the students the importance of having a clear vision when starting out on an entrepreneurial journey. He encouraged the students to put their ideas on paper and talk to potential customers to ascertain if their idea is something they would want to pay for, before spending too much time and money on a project.
Kyle also explained to students, when creating an entrepreneurial idea or project, the need to firstly identify a problem. Secondly, work on building a solution to solve that problem and thirdly, ensure its distributed effectively. After this, Kyle stressed to the students the importance of healthy media consumption as at times it can become all-consuming, resulting in a negative mindset.
The Q&A session provided a great platform for Business & Management, Computing/Software Engineering students to ask Kyle a series of questions related to their courses. The event was recorded for it to be able to be viewed any time, providing students the ability to hear industry professional advice remotely. Students and staff alike responded positively to the experience and the college would like to thank Kyle for providing an invaluable insight into his entrepreneurial experience and inspiring the students.
