Staff at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) ‘stepped’ up to the challenge, and walked their way to victory in Ards and North Down Borough Council’s Step Challenge, which ran from 13 January to 9 February.

The event encouraged local businesses and organisations in the area to take part in the Step Challenge which was part of the Mind Body and Business initiative, the aim of which is to put health in the workplace.

A total of 74 individuals and six teams completed the challenge. SERC participated well, with the top two scoring teams both being from the college, the first place Terrific Treaders and the second placed SERC Steppers. SERC also had the top three overall highest scoring individuals:

First place - Timothy Mullen

Second place - Phyillis McFarlane

Third place - Heather Gayle

Marie Dunwoody also got an award for the most improved individual.

The event was welcomed by SERC Wellbeing Champions, Eleanor McDowell, Linda Martin and Linda Lyttle and HR Business Partner, Maureen McKay who said “SERC were delighted to partner up with the annual Mind Body Business Initiative by Ards and North Down Borough Council for the Step Challenge as part of our own Mind Yourself Health and Wellbeing campaign. The College regularly participates with external bodies or organisations in health-related challenges that are to the benefit of our employees. Congratulations to everyone who took part and those who received recognition for their efforts.”
