SERC have won an award for Highest Step Count, Business Category (3rd Place), in the Mind Body Business Step Challenge.
Mind Body Business is an initiative founded by the Public Health Agency and Ards and North Down Borough Council. The aim of this initiative is to make businesses healthier by increasing workforce creativity and productivity, engaging and motivating the workplace to maximise performance, and by helping people get access to help and support for issues raised by employees.
SERC is always keen to get on board with improving business health as part of our wider health and wellbeing programme, so SERC staff have taken part in the Mind Body Business Step Challenge as part of this initiative, to help keep staff motivated and healthy.
Aside from the overall College award, SERC staff have also won awards in the individual category:
- Gillian Parks, SERC Senior Administrator for Assessment and Examinations - Highest Individual Step Count, 2nd Place
- Linda Lyttle, SERC Associate Lecturer in Science - Highest Individual Step Count, 3rd Place
- Kerry Gilmore, SERC NVQ Pharmacy Assessor - Most Improved Stepper, Individual Category, 2nd Place
Linda Lytle, Associate Lecturer in Science, comments, “I really enjoyed the Step Challenge which was being run by Ards and North Down Borough Council as part of their programme to encourage people to be more active. I love walking and walk every day anyway. However, being part of the challenge made me more determined to walk more steps in a day. I was really surprised and pleased to get 3rd place in the Individual category and I'm very proud of my trophy. I would encourage everyone to get outside in the fresh air and enjoy a walk it's so good for mental health.”
