06 April 2020

Through this Step Challenge we want everyone to be mindful of the steps they are taking and aim to keep up or increase your step count week by week.

The average person takes between 3,000 and 4,000 steps per day and with most of us staying home, this could be even less. Through this Step Challenge we want everyone to be mindful of the steps they are taking and aim to keep up or increase your step count week by week.

There are many health benefits to keeping activity levels up throughout the day such as; reducing stress, weight management, healthier heart, increasing metabolism, mood improvement, increased energy to name only a few.

The challenge will begin on Friday 3rd April which is national 'Walk to Work Day' and will finish on 30th April.

Try and come up with creative ways to get your steps in while working from home!

How to record your steps:

You can track your steps using a pedometer or other wearable fitness tracker. You can use a smartphone app. If you have a pedometer, Fitbit or similar tracking device these can all be used. If you don’t have a device you can download a free pedometer app from your smartphone store such as ‘Accupedo”, “Runkeeper “Steps Pedometer” or “MSN Health & Fitness”.

A prize will be given to the individual with the highest number of steps at the end of each week.
