South Eastern Regional College (SERC) full-time and part-time students from the Level 3 NVQ Patisserie and Confectionery course have recently held a pop-up pizza lunch event on SERC’s Bangor Campus.

The event was held by the students as part of their supervisory course units, in which students are tasked with planning and running an event throughout the year with the theme of their choice. Part-time student Adrian McLaughlin was responsible organising the recent pizza event, planning his event with support from SERC Lecturer in Hospitality and Catering Paul Monaghan. Adrian was also supported by his fellow students Yvonne Cosgrove, Callie Anne Gourley, Emma Archibald, Olivia McComb, Abbigail Oates, Dearbhla Barry, Hannah Wickens and Marcin Holecki.

The event transformed the bakery kitchen into an Italian pizza stand, with a variety of pizzas freshly prepared and served to SERC staff and students alike. The aromas of baking pizza filled the corridor, accompanied by Italian inspired music.

This is one of many events that have taken place throughout the year under the student-run bakery company Short and Sweet Bakery. Proceeds from the event and others like it help support Short and Sweet Bakery in enriching the student experience through trips.
