SERC is sharing examples of best practice developed at the college to meet the challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic, publishing a new booklet drawing on the experience of a range of staff.
SERC acted swiftly in March 2020 as Covid-19 spread, protecting the health of the college community and supporting our students as we continued online and open for business from the earliest days of lockdown. The College has now published Good Practice Case Studies: a Whole-college Response to the Covid-19 Pandemic, which explores how we faced and dealt with the situation so as to ensure a continuing high standard of teaching and learning.
The global pandemic has been a challenge for all educational establishments across the world and this publication shows the many innovative ways that SERC has adapted College-wide practice during this time. The College prides itself on being solution-focussed and the case studies show how this approach was applied across the wide range of vocational areas (more than 50) provided at SERC.
They illustrate innovative practice at all National Vocational Qualification levels from zero through to level six -- an Honours Degree - and describe the development of several key tools to support this. These tools include a flexible digital strategy, a comprehensive professional development approach for staff and new approaches to project-based learning. The process was underpinned by SERC’s focus on skills, enterprise and entrepreneurial development for learners, and international strategic partnerships with like-minded organisations.
The booklet has been shared with educational stakeholders and NI politicians, and you can download a copy here:
